This work is indebted to the great skill of master tinsmith James Collins. Inspired by watching the master craftsman at work, these pieces were later created using traditional tinsmithing techniques such as those practiced by Collins. A tension emerges within the objects; between the form of a vessel which symbolises our most fundamental needs, and jewellery on the other hand which may be supplemental yet has been ever present and forms an essential element of our material culture.
